Even a makeup lover like myself can become bored with their everyday makeup. Now that Summer is almost here I thought it would be a good idea to change-up my neutral makeup and add a bright pop of color. Although I do love a bold, bright lip I thought it would be fun to try a new eye look using some fun summer-friendly colors. COVERGIRL recently launched a new “FLAMED OUT” collection featuring a new mascara, single eyeshadows and shadow pencils as well as a new long-lasting eye liner,“Ink It” by Perfect Point Plus. These new COVERGIRL products gave me everything I needed to achieve the perfect bold summer eye look.
To achieve this stunning eye look I used three main products- the COVERGIRL “Flamed Out” mascara in Black Blaze (305), COVERGIRL Ink It! eyeliner in Golden Ink (235) and the COVERGIRL “Flamed Out” Shadow Pot in Lime Light (310).
First, for a gorgeous wash of color all over the lids I used the new COVERGIRL Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Lime Light (310). This lime green shade is the perfect color to make my brown eyes pop. The shadow was super easy to apply and blended beautifully all over the lid! I also added a soft warm matte brown shadow to the crease to add some more definition to my eyes. These shadows come in 12 different colors. Whether you’re a neutrals lover or wanting to try some more daring shades there is definitely a color for you!
Next I applied the new COVERGIRL Ink It! liner by Perfect Point Plus in Golden Ink (235)! It really glided on smoothly leaving a gorgeous and pigmented golden color to my waterline and lower lash line. It did not move at ALL throughout the day. This is a perfect product for those who struggle with liner that creases, smudges and fades throughout the day. This Ink It! liner comes in six bold shades. I am absolutely in love and definitely picking up some other colors ASAP!
Last ,but not least, I used the new COVERGIRL “Flamed Out” mascara in Black Blaze (305)! The new, innovative “Volume Igniter” brush coated each lash to the fullest extent, while giving the perfect amount of volume. I really enjoyed the fact that the mascara did not flake or smudge at all throughout the day, which is a must during the summer! The new “Flamed Out” mascara even comes in a water-resistant formula for those who prefer waterproof mascara.
The “Flamed Out” collection and the Ink It! liner is available nationwide at your local COVERGIRL retailer beginning July 2013. For more information on these products check out http://www.covergirl.com
Thanks so much, COVERGIRL, for sharing these awesome new products with me!

As we all know I am a nail polish addict. I love trying the latest nail colors and cool textures that come out each season. My love for blue and green polishes started in 2009 with the release of Essie Mint Candy Apple (blog post to come soon). While I am not the biggest fan of the ever so difficult to remove glitter polish, I do love some striking duo-chrome action on the nails.

Chanel recently released Chanel L’Ete Papillon de Chanel Collection for Summer 2013. While the entire collection had me wishing I didn’t spend all my money on excessive amounts of iced coffee, there was one item I knew I must add to my already large nail polish collection-Chanel Le Vernis in Azure.
This swoon-worthy nail lacquer from Chanel is unlike any polish I have seen before. It is described as a metallic blue-green, but that description does not do it justice. It changes drastically depending on the lighting, revealing a truly chameleon color. It changes from a shimmery green to a true turquoise shade. The duo-chrome effect of this nail polish has me mesmerized. It is truly a gorgeous color, one that I am happy to have in my nail polish stash.
If you are at all interested in this color I suggest you snatch it up now as it is limited edition. I am still upset I did not pick up the gorgeous minty goodness of Chanel Jade from a few years back *sigh*

Bold, striking cat-eyes was a huge trend on the Fall 2013 runways. Designers took the cat-eye to an extreme and incorporated bold colors into their eye looks. Jason Wu’s makeup artists used a violet hue while Christian Dior’s chose an icy blue shade. Want to recreate this daring eye trend? Take a color of your choice and line your upper and lower lash lines. Take the same color on a small angled brush and wing out the liner for that intense cat-eye shape.
I’m super excited to try this out with my new stila turiquoise (more of a mint green) liquid eye liner.
Will you be “catifying” your eyes with some color?

The textured manicure has been a huge trend this past year. It all started with Ciate’s Caviar Manicure set and from there quickly manifested into other nail art trends. The latest of this nail art frenzy is the liquid sand manicure. Brands like OPI and Zoya have each launched their own liquid sand nailpolish. To achieve this look paint two coats of either OPI Liquid Sand or Zoya PixieDust. The key to this trend is not using a topcoat to show the textured matte finish of these new, innovative nail lacquers.

While I don’t have too many of these unique polishes in my stash, I do really enjoy them. The texture is quite durable and allows for at least a week of wear with minimal chipping. The colors I have are quite dark and more neutral. Maybe I will pick up some of the brighter colors from the OPI Bond Girls Collection and The Zoya Summer 2013 PixieDust Collection.
Colors: OPI “Can’t Let Go”, Zoya “Godiva, and OPI “What Wizardry is This”
What do you think of the textured mani?
No more voluminous curls for Fall 2013. It’s all about the sleek and straight ponytail-with a twist. Designers like Alexander Wang showcased this sophisticated hair look on his Fall 2013 runway. The pulled together look of the ponytail really adds an overall sophisticated feel. To achieve this chic and sleek hairstyle take some hair gel or hairspray to tame any flyaways you may have. Then gather the hair in a low ponytail and secure with an elastic band.
